My friend Kendalyn, owner of the amazing Sage + Sea Apothecary, approached me to make a pendant for her sister’s graduation incorporating both of their birthstones (aquamarine and pink tourmaline). She wanted the pendant to have a very natural, organic feel, and be inspired by the ocean.

The resulting pendant included 3 sterling silver limpet shells arranged asymmetrically, a pink tourmaline cabochon set in the inside center of one of the shells, tiny faceted aquamarine stones, and a lovely moss aquamarine briolette.

I recently had the pleasure of making wedding bands for a good friend that I’ve known since we were 5 years old! My friend and her husband-to-be wanted bands that looked very simple from the outside, while on the inner part they would hold a meaningful secret- each band has the other’s fingerprint on the inside, hugging the ring finger when worn. A lightly hammered satin finish gives the rings an organic feel, and along with the sentimental addition on the inside these bands suit this couple very well!

Creating this custom necklace was a wonderful experience and a new conceptual design challenge for me. My client approached me wanting a piece that was symbolic of what 2015 meant for her: freedom. She gave me a  subtitle of the word to work with that defined freedom for her,  “Allowing the fall to blossom into flight”, and I got to work sketching out some ideas.

Working together, we came up with a pendant idea that perfectly illustrated her guiding phrase for the year. The silver sage leaves surrounding the bronze blossom with a green patina turn into wings as it’s falling to support it. They give the blossom the freedom to take flight, and fly freely instead of simply falling flat.

She was thrilled with the result, and I enjoyed creating a truly unique piece that interpreted an idea that was so meaningful and inspiring for my client.
